Frequently Asked Questions about our

City-Wide Volunteer Day

When do I show up?

Love Oakdale's City-Wide Volunteer Day is an exciting day for our community. Hundreds of volunteers gather for a Kick-Off Party before dispersing throughout to love on the people and places of Oakdale. Last year over 600 people completed 50 projects and we're hoping to beat that this year!

Where and when do I show up?

Oakdale Community Park near the skate park. Enter under the arch on the corner of H and Yosemite. At 8:00 a.m. on April 27, 2024 we'll begin checking in our beloved volunteers. Our presentations will begin promptly at 8:40.

What will I do after I check in and before the presentation from the stage begins?

You'll receive your free t-shirt, sign cards, visit non-profit booths,  check out raffle items, have your kids meet police and fire representatives, and enjoy some good music.

There's a raffle?

Yes! Every volunteer will receive a free ticket when they arrive. Additionally, you will receive a ticket for each and every non-perishable food item you bring to donate to Oakdale Family Resource and Counseling Center. We have raffle prizes from a number of Oakdale's finest small businesses; each valued at $100 or more! We will limit winners to one prize per family to share the joy.

Will there be food?

Absolutely! Muffins and quiche from Bloomingcamp Ranch, fruit, water and juice from Grocery Outlet and coffee! Come feast before you work!

What happens during the presentations?

We'll hear from important people, thank our amazing sponsors, hand out our, "Thanks for Loving Oakdale Well" awards, give away raffle prizes and more!

What happens after the Kick-off Party?

We'll dismiss you to find your project sign which will be lined up on the edge of the grass. Your project leader will meet you and give you some instructions. We'll snap a picture of your team and then you'll head to your project site.

What should I bring?

In the description for your project you can see the scope of work and recommended tools to bring. Bring water, sunscreen, gloves, and any needed tools or equipment. Your project leader will be in touch with you about specific details.

Can I bring a friend?

Please do! We are so thankful for volunteers who have sign up ahead of time but will never turn away someone wanting to help. They'll need to sign a waiver and sign up at a project before the rally begins.

When will we finish for the day?

It really depends on your project. When you've completed the work at your project site, you are free to go. Projects should finish by noon; some will finish much earlier.

What if my project finishes but I still want to help?

Call me! I'll direct you to a project that could use additional help.

Why are we doing this?

I do this because Jesus tells us to love one another and by physically serving the people and places of our city, we are doing just that! Others serve at Love Oakdale for different reasons. I'm thankful we can all serve our city together whatever our motivation.
